We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the HEATERNAL project, an initiative aimed at revolutionizing sustainable energy sources for a cleaner and greener future. The project’s kick-off meeting took place between 20 and 21 June in Grenoble bringing together partners’ organizations from across Europe to chart the course of this ambitious project.
HEATERNAL (Harvesting Earth’s Abundant Thermal Energy for Reliable and Non-stop Autonomous Low-cost energy) will leverage advanced geothermal technologies and innovations to explore new frontiers in renewable energy generation. HEATERNAL aims to unlock the potential of Earth’s geothermal resources and develop scalable and sustainable energy solutions that can be deployed worldwide. This collaboration is a testament to the commitment of the global energy community to combating climate change through cutting-edge research and development.
The kick-off meeting, hosted by CEA the project coordinator, took place in Grenoble on 20-21 June 2023. This event served as a platform to introduce the project’s objectives, outline the research framework, and foster fruitful discussions among participants.
Key goals of the HEATERNAL project include:
- Developing advanced geothermal exploration and extraction techniques to maximize energy yield.
- Creating sustainable and efficient energy systems for various applications, including electricity generation and heating.
- Promoting knowledge exchange and collaboration among European and international experts in geothermal energy.
- Proposing policy recommendations to support the widespread adoption of geothermal energy solutions.
We envision the HEATERNAL project to make significant strides in harnessing the immense potential of geothermal energy. Together, we will develop transformative technologies that will shape the future of sustainable energy for generations to come.
The project has received funding from Horizon Europe the EU’s funding program for research and innovation, underscoring its importance in advancing renewable energy technologies.
